Gen 16:116
Now Sarai, Abram's wife had borne him no children, and she had an Egyptian maid whose name was Hagar. So Sarai said to Abram, "Now behold, the LORD has prevented me from bearing children. Please go in to my maid; perhaps I will [fn]obtain children through her." And Abram listened to the voice of Sarai. After Abram had [fn]lived ten years in the land of Canaan, Abram's wife Sarai took Hagar the Egyptian, her maid, and gave her to her husband Abram as his wife. He went in to Hagar, and she conceived; and when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her sight. And Sarai said to Abram, "May the wrong done me be upon you. I gave my maid into your [fn]arms, but when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her [fn]sight. May the LORD judge between [fn]you and me." But Abram said to Sarai, "Behold, your maid is in your [fn]power; do to her what is good in your [fn]sight." So Sarai treated her harshly, and she fled from her presence. Now the angel of the LORD found her by a spring of water in the wilderness, by the spring on the way to Shur. He said, "Hagar, Sarai's maid, where have you come from and where are you going?" And she said, "I am fleeing from the presence of my mistress Sarai." Then the angel of the LORD said to her, "Return to your mistress, and submit yourself [fn]to her authority." Moreover, the angel of the LORD said to her, "I will greatly multiply your [fn]descendants so that [fn]they will be too many to count." The angel of the LORD said to her further, "Behold, you are with child, And you will bear a son; And you shall call his name [fn]Ishmael, Because the LORD [fn]has given heed to your affliction. "He will be a wild donkey of a man, His hand will be against everyone, And everyone's hand will be against him; And he will [fn]live [fn]to the east of all his brothers." Then she called the name of the LORD who spoke to her, " [fn]You are [fn]a God who sees"; for she said, "Have I even [fn]remained alive here after seeing Him?" Therefore the well was called [fn]Beer-lahai-roi; behold, it is between Kadesh and Bered. So Hagar bore Abram a son; and Abram called the name of his son, whom Hagar bore, Ishmael. Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore Ishmael to [fn]him.
Genesis 17:18-21 NASB
And Abraham said to God, "Oh that Ishmael might live before You!" But God said, "No, but Sarah your wife will bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; and I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him. As for Ishmael, I have heard you; behold, I will bless him, and will make him fruitful and will multiply him exceedingly. He shall become the father of twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation. But My covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you at this season next year."
Gen 17:25
And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. In the very same day Abraham was circumcised, and Ishmael his son.
Gen 21:9-21
Now Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, [fn]mocking. Therefore she said to Abraham, "Drive out this maid and her son, for the son of this maid shall not be an heir with my son [fn]Isaac." The matter [fn]distressed Abraham greatly because of his son. But God said to Abraham, " [fn]Do not be distressed because of the lad and your maid; whatever Sarah tells you, listen to her, for through Isaac [fn]your descendants shall be named. "And of the son of the maid I will make a nation also, because he is your [fn]descendant." So Abraham rose early in the morning and took bread and a [fn]skin of water and gave them to Hagar, putting them on her shoulder, and gave her the boy, and sent her away. And she departed and wandered about in the wilderness of Beersheba. When the water in the skin was used up, she [fn]left the boy under one of the bushes. Then she went and sat down opposite him, about a bowshot away, for she said, "Do not let me [fn]see the boy die." And she sat opposite him, and lifted up her voice and wept. God heard the lad crying; and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, "What is the matter with you, Hagar? Do not fear, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is. "Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him by [fn]the hand, for I will make a great nation of him." Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water; and she went and filled the [fn]skin with water and gave the lad a drink. God was with the lad, and he grew; and he [fn]lived in the wilderness and became an archer. He [fn]lived in the wilderness of Paran, and his mother took a wife for him from the land of Egypt.
Genesis 25:9 NASB
Then his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, facing Mamre,
Genesis 25:12-18 NASB
Now these are the records of the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's maid, bore to Abraham; and these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, in the order of their birth: Nebaioth, the firstborn of Ishmael, and Kedar and Adbeel and Mibsam and Mishma and Dumah and Massa, Hadad and Tema, Jetur, Naphish and Kedemah. These are the sons of Ishmael and these are their names, by their villages, and by their camps; twelve princes according to their tribes. These are the years of the life of Ishmael, one hundred and thirty-seven years; and he breathed his last and died, and was gathered to his people. They settled from Havilah to Shur which is east of Egypt as one goes toward Assyria; he settled in defiance of all his relatives.
